Texas native Mina Azad is a New York City-based mezzo-soprano recognized for her rich, warm tone, expressive musicianship, and versatility across a diverse range of operatic repertoire. A dedicated and dynamic performer, Mina brings a strong sense of musicality and dramatic intention to each role she undertakes.

Mina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from NYU Steinhardt and a Master’s Degree in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music. She is currently getting her Professional Studies Certificate in Voice from MSM and is studying under Ruth Golden. Her time at both NYU and MSM allowed her to dive into repertoire spanning from the baroque era to brand new operatic works. While in school she performed roles such as Carmen with the MSM orchestra’s Highlights from Carmen, Maestra delle Novizie in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and most recently appeared as Ruth in Nico Muhly’s contemporary opera Dark Sisters.

Mina has performed both locally and internationally in a variety of operatic productions. Her recent roles include Zita in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with the Berlin Opera Academy. Around New York City she has been seen in the chorus with Regina Opera Company, and most recently as Siebel in Gounod’s Faust with Amore Opera Company. Mina has also performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and David Geffen Hall, gaining experience performing for diverse audiences in some of the city’s most distinguished concert spaces.

As an emerging artist, Mina is passionate about continuing to expand her repertoire, collaborate with fellow musicians and artists, and pursue opportunities that allow her to connect with audiences through compelling storytelling and music. She looks forward to building a career that celebrates both the rich traditions of opera and the evolving landscape of classical vocal performance.
